DR. WILLIAM J. JUSKO, DIRECTOR

DR. WILLIAM J. JUSKO
Dr. Jusko is Professor and Chair of Pharmaceutical Sciences at the University at Buffalo, State University of New York (UB). He received his BS Pharm. (1965) and PhD (1970) degrees from UB. He then joined the Clinical Pharmacology Section of the Boston Veterans Administration Hospital and taught in the Pharmacology Department of the Boston University School of Medicine. His awards include a Fulbright-Hays Fellowship (1978), Rawls-Palmer Award from ASCPT (1987), Doctor Honoris Causae, Jagiellonian University (1987), the Distinguished Service Award from ACCP (1989), and Research Achievement Award in Pharmacokinetics, Pharmacodynamics, and Drug Metabolism from AAPS (1998). His PK/PD modeling interests and capabilities include the characterization of pharmacogenomic mechaisms of drug action particularly related to receptor/gene- mediated mechanisms of corticosteroid effects, the development of disease progression models and drug effect models related to diabetes and antidiabetic drug effects and other metabolic diseases, the development of disease progression models and drug effect models related to anti-inflammatory effects of corticosteroids and other drugs, and the development of mechanism-based models that integrate diverse components of drug actions (pharmacokinetics, receptor binding and turnover, transduction, and feedback or down-regulation processes).
