Initial funding to establish a strategic alliance has been provided by Pfizer, Inc.. Funding of $1,500,000 for each of the first 3 years with possible funding for 2 additional years was initiated in November, 2005. This funding is intended to provide salary and startup funds for two new faculty members, partly fund two research faculty, hire 2-5 post-doctoral fellows, support 6 graduate students, and allow the purchase of new equipment.
