Course Overview

Study of modern methods for the analysis of drugs and drug products. Particular emphasis is given to the separation, isolation, characterization and quantitation of drugs and their metaboliltes in biological fluids and tissues. 3 hr. of lecture weekly.

Includes PHC 520: Pharmaceutical Analysis Laboratory

An introduction to laboratory instrumentation and methodology commonly employed in the identification and analysis of drugs in body fluids. Experiments include planar, column, gas/liquid and countercurrent chromatography. Absorptiometric, fluorescence and radiochemical methods. One six hr laboratory weekly.
