Liquid Chromatography Mass Spectroscopy (LCMS) Facility
Faciltity Usage and Forms

Project time in the LCMS facility needs to be requested on-line by submitting a Request For LCMS Project form. If structural, protocol, or experimental information is available, submit promptly after this form has been submitted.

The name of the principal investigator on grant projects must be submitted as well as the granting agency, the project number and the UB account number.

Your project request will be reviewed by the facility and you will contacted to schedule a consultation appointment. During this consultation appointment the approach to your project will be discussed, though it may be necessary to further research your project's LCMS application. This will be particularly true when the user requesting time does not have a well-planned protocol or is just learning how the LCMS may be utilized for their project. New users will be mentored and trained during the course of their project until they receive Certification to Use the Facility. The terms of your facility use and time allotment will be projected on a step-by-step basis (when one experiment's results decide the next's purposes and procedures) or planned over the period of time necessary to complete the project (when a routine method is to be utilized).

The facility reserves the right to refuse projects that the facility determines as potentially harmful to the operating status of the instrument. The facility also reserves the right to terminate projects that have not been conducted within standard operating procedures and guidelines of the facility. Lastly, the facility reserves the right to reschedule project use of the instrument.

Please be aware that the management of this facility may not have applications experience in the scientific area of your project. It may be necessary for you or them to contact outside references and professionals to determine how to apply your project to this specific instrumentıs conditions. In turn, you will need to be able to communicate these recommendations to the facility. As is true for many novel research projects, it will be necessary for you to educate the facility analytical staff as well as respect the facilityıs need to ask specific questions to ensure the integrity of the analytical system.
